Trombone

Will Kimball is Associate Professor of Trombone at Brigham Young University. He has been a guest soloist or clinician at more than 20 of the nation’s most prestigious universities and conservatories, including Juilliard, Cincinnati Conservatory, University of Michigan, Yale, Indiana University, University of North Texas, San Francisco Conservatory, Arizona State University, Boston University, and University of Iowa. His recent solo CD, “Collage,” which features both trombone standards and noteworthy premieres, is produced by Tantara Records. In addition, his research on alto trombone and breathing for musicians has led to a number of clinics and scholarly articles. In the orchestral field, Kimball recently won the principal trombone position with the Utah Chamber Orchestra (Ballet West) and has won additional principal trombone positions with the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra (now Orchestra Iowa) and Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestras he has performed with include the Utah Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, Utah Chamber Artists, Shreveport Symphony, Utah Festival Opera, Orchestra at Temple Square, and New England Philharmonic. He recently performed several works with the Utah Symphony trombone section for their clinic at the International Trombone Festival.
